Orquestra de Cambra Catalana 1986-2016
In 2011, the OCC celebrated the 25th anniversary of its first concert. To offer the musical vanguard composers the possibility of giving the first performance of their works, to promote the knowledge and diffusion of the maestros from the past, are just some of the main traits which define the philosophy and aims of the OCC, stated in its foundation letter. The OCC’s repertoire, which ranges over all the musical periods and composers, pays especial attention to the diffusion and performance of Catalan music. The OCC has performed more than 500 concerts in the main halls, music Programmes and Festivals in Spain and abroad in Albania, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Lebanon, Tunisia and China. Prestigious soloists have performed with the Orchestra: Nicanor Zabaleta, Montserrat Cervera, León Ara, Régis Pasquier, Evelyne Dubourg, Montserrat Torrent, Enrica Guarini and, also, Ludmil Angelov, Assumpta Mateu, Young Hee Kim, Jesús Ángel León and Marco Fiorini. Among the invited conductors the following stand up: Mihail Angelov, Marçal Gols, Lucien Jean Baptiste, Yukio Kithara and Milen Nachev. The OCC has recorded for radio and TV in Spain, France, Argentina, Mexico and Tunisia. Performances of unpublished scores, basically from Catalan composers, are recorded in four CDs. The OCC, represented by the Association with the same name, has the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan government), the Ajuntament de Barcelona (City Hall) and the Ramon Llull’s University.
